What is Thought Field Therapy?

Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a simple & effective therapy for the rapid relief for all kinds of emotional distress.
It works a little like acupuncture by stimulating the body’s energy meridians to resolve problems with the body’s emotional control system. However, no needles are used. Instead, the patient taps on various parts of the body with their fingers.

The results are amazing with emotional problems sometimes disappearing in minutes.

Who Can TFT Help?

TFT can now help many people with an ever increasing range of emotional problems, both minor and major and it can also help to reduce pain. Here is a list of some of the things it could help you overcome:

  • Fears, Phobias, Anxiety & Panic attacks, eg. Flying, claustrophobia, spiders, being alone, driving long distances, public speaking, heights, etc.

  • Addictions, eg. Smoking, various foods, alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.
  • Traumas, eg. PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), grief, abuse (no need to discuss details or relive events)

How Effective is TFT?

TFT has proven itself over & over again to be very effective in helping overcome negative emotions. Over the 30 years it has been developing it has shown more than 90% success.

Many common phobias & fears can be completely eliminated during a single session.

More complex issues may have a number of layers to uncover & may need more than 1 treatment session.

TFT is safe for everyone, including children, infants and the elderly.

Where does TFT come from?

TFT was first discovered in 1980 by Dr Roger Callahan, an experienced & distinguished Clinical Psychologist in America. He was unhappy that the conventional therapy techniques were largely ineffective and so he looked at what other therapies might help.

The first patient he treated with what we now know as TFT was a middle-aged lady called Mary, who had a severe phobia of water. Dr Callahan had been treating Mary for 18 months with conventional methods, with little success, so he decided to experiment with his new technique. This new TFT worked immediately & her phobia disappeared completely. 30 years later she is still fine & frequently has cruise ship holidays!

The same technique did not work for everyone & so Dr Callahan continued to develop it to find out how to identify what would work for each individual. He has developed a very powerful healing tool and continues to enhance it still.

In the spring of 2011 whatever club I had in my hand (with 1 exception), my confidence in my abilities to play the shot I wanted were really good & I was playing very well.

The exception was my putter & this was creating a weakness in my game & increasing my scores. In turn, this began to lead to anxiety & tension whenever I stood over a putt, and as this continued my putting got worse. I did not know how to overcome this & the anxiety then began to affect my approach shots too. Luckily for me, I knew Rita New & she said that she might be able to help me overcome these anxieties that were bringing my game down.

This is why I began working with her in May 2011. She used TFT & also taught me about keeping my energy field in balance & the importance of visualisation techniques when playing. The first session took away my feelings of anxiety, gave me simple tapping exercises to do whilst playing (should the need arise) & taught me a simple routine to do regularly to keep my energy field in better shape.

Since that first session I have been able to play all of my shots in a much more relaxed way & if I have not played well it has not been because my mind is getting in the way.

I continue to work with Rita so that I can overcome other aspects of
competitive play, as new situations arise, that can lead to the mind & emotions inhibiting relaxed shot-making.

It has been very valuable to learn that there are many more aspects to improving my game than just being able to choose the right shot & execute it well. This is why continuing to work with Rita is so important.
